Monkees Convention 2014: A Quick Guide to the Complete Coverage

2014-03-15 20.21.40Hey! Since my convention essays got rather long (AND I’m going to be writing one more than I expected), I thought I’d provide a Helpful Index to my Convention Coverage, reviews, and Analysis. Here’s the whole thing in one handy list:

Monkees Convention 2014 Day 0: To the Girl I Used To Be…

About a week before I left for the con, I bumped into this guy on Skype going by the name Raggedy_Man. After mentioning he was also going to the con (and taking me on a quick side trip to verify his *ahem* credentials), he made me a tempting offer–He’d deliver a message to my former self in return for a dinner of the semi-famous Clark Family Chicken Enchiladas. And he whipped up the Best Gazpacho I’ve ever had in my LIFE, I might add. How can you turn down an offer like that? In any case, Part 0 is a letter to a rather lonely and confused girl in 1988.

Monkees Convention 2014, Day 1: “Weren’t they good? they made me…um…*scratches head*”

Friday (once I got off the plane) was a fun romp, including my first encounter with a fan of my OWN (that messes with the head still), meeting my last (living) Monkee, The Nez Q&A (in-depth coverage forthcoming), and performances by both Micky and Circe Link. I also met Iain Lee. And Henry Diltz. And Half a dozen of my closest Tumblr Friends. That was my least busy day of the convention too…

Monkees Convention 2014, Day 2: I Feel I Can’t Make it Alone*

From seeing the Monkeemobile folks unload the car to cheering my lungs out at the Best. Nez. Concert. Ever. to watching a GREAT documentary on Boyce & Hart that in a just world will be up for an Oscar in a year or two, Saturday was Bar-none the most amazing day I’ve spent in this fandom. Or any other. The only thing that would have made it better would have been the presence of my Frodis Femme Sisters. But then again, Anissa was there. There isn’t a doubt in my mind.

Monkees Convention 2014, Day 3: “Telling More Than Before…”

In which I met Nez (again). And I meet Boh Cooper. And I contribute to Iain’s documentary. And I am reminded that everything is circular, even (especially?) Monkeedom. Except of course when it isn’t.

Monkees Convention 2014 Epilogue: Final thoughts to the Girl I Used to Be

Pretty much what it says on the tin. I’m glad that girl found the guts to grow up to be me, and I’m glad The Doctor was able to deliver my reassuring message from the future.

My analysis of these very “two sides of one coin” conversations is coming soon…hopefully on or before the 28th.
